The Electric Barge is a unique floating events venue based on the Grand Union Canal in Paddington. We operate catered canal cruises along the Regent’s Canal between Paddington and Kings Cross. Systems Analyst / Developer (Freelance)
We are a social-enterprise private hire events venue in London. Our events aboard the Electric Barge directly fund our charity, The Floating Classroom, which provides hands-on learning experiences for children, young people and community groups.
We’re looking for an experienced freelance systems analyst with deep Airtable (or similar low-code/no-code platforms) expertise to help us transition from a patchwork of tools into a modular, integrated stack that reduces duplication and automates key workflows.
Our Current Tools & WORKFLOW (See below Link To System Map)
Excel: Enquiries, bookings, income/costs, rudimentary event tracker (status of payments, catering, crew scheduling etc.), ad-hoc analysis (e.g. margins, conversion rates, lead times, YTD comparisons)
Word: Consolidate event details into readable format
Outlook: Email correspondence and calendar diary management
Xero: Invoicing and payments
Sling: Freelance crew scheduling
What We Need Help With
Systems Analysis: Review our existing workflows and data flows to identify opportunities to integrate, automate and remove duplication
Fit for Purpose Database Design: Identify and configure the most suitable low-code/no-code platform that will align with our organisation’s operating model, policies and objectives, which can handle as many of our operational activities as possible, including CRM, event tracking, budget tracking, catering orders and KPI reporting
Integrations: Set up automation between the selected platform and Xero, Outlook, Sling (via Make/Zapier or equivalent)
Automation: Reduce manual updates and duplication (e.g. booking status, invoices, catering orders)
Documentation & Handover: Provide a clear blueprint and light training for one user
Skills & Experience Required
Proven track record of similar work tailoring platforms and designing integrations to streamline operations for SMEs
Proven ability to understand and translate organisational needs, workflows and user requirements into effective technical solutions
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to enable clear training and documentation provision
Project Scope
Initial workflow mapping and build-out of our suggested phased roadmap (see below)
Integrated platform schema design
Implementation of database & key automations
Knowledge transfer and documentation
Potential for further support on a freelance basis
Location & Working Style
Remote-first, but London-based candidates welcome (occasional in-person sessions would be ideal)

Events Crew (Freelance)
Role: Casual Events Crew
Salary: £15.00 per hour
Contract: Freelance
We’re looking for upbeat freelance Events Crew to join the team on board the Electric Barge.
Join our freelance events crew on board the Electric Barge! We offer competitive rates of pay and the flexibility to choose your shifts. Mostly evening and weekend work although more mid-week work will be available throughout our peak summer season from July to September. The average shift is 5.5 hours long.

Excellent communication skills.

Experience in the hospitality industry in a customer facing role would be advantageous.
To be considered for this role you must be available for evening and weekend shifts. Our ideal candidate will have a can-do attitude and a proactive approach.
